Sometimes people discover things or make good points by accident. Like the guy who invented post-it notes (i think). This is almost how I feel about the w-bush criticism of the kyoto protocol. When he says it’s not good enough, though he’s reasons are those of a spoiled child, he circles around a point that I actually agree with. Thats right.. the sky is falling, I almost agree with the moron-in-chief.

Sign it bitch Now now, don’t worry, I can explain. I’ve conducted extensive lazy internet research in between reading the onion and great blogs like the known universe, and in my research I noted that Kyoto is full of loop holes for polluters to keep polluting by trading their “emissions credits” or whatever. I also noted that the targeted amount of pollution reduction is peanuts, almost-nothing, nada, niks, rien de rien. Nevermind how it will allow lots of terrible polluters considered non-industrialized to destroy their corner of the planet.

That being said, I want it signed. Im with the environmentalists outside the G8. hell, Im an activist myself. But like with so many things, I know we’re capable of much better. We HAVE TO come up with more and better agreements after the Kyoto thing finally goes through. When you think about it, Kyoto was drafted over 8 years ago… we should already be working on the next steps for cleaning up this terrible mess.

Now I realize I started this post by agreeing a lil’ with one of the most ignorant world leaders in history. What can I say, I’m an odd one.

750th Bday

Kaliningrad Celebratin 750 is a hell of an anniversary. Thats my thought for today.
I’ve not been to Kaliningrad – yet. But I will, this I promise. I’ll find an affordable ride across Germany, then Poland, and poof, I’ll be in this tiny Russian enclave on the Baltic Sea. And it will be lovely. I’ll take photos for you guys, cause I’d never travel without you.

For now, it’s best to go forth and study how the germans and the prussians were all involved in this wacky place. I wonder if I need a Visa to go there…

Broke the internet

Much of the internet has been broken today. Funny how that can happen. Servers overloaded. Websites down. Feeds getting pounded. Hooray for chaos.

As you can tell, I’m one of those old time Anarcho-Syndicists. I’m lazy so I won’t check on the spelling, but they’re the working class people who fought Franco and his fascist army in the Spanish civil war. Thats right… I dream of having been a part of the Lincoln brigade. Me and Hemmingway, and those others guys. Cept I would have tried not to shoot any guns. I’d be in charge of printing the anarcho-syndicist newsletter. Everyday we’d have a political cartoon where Franco would look like an insane moron. Our people would look forward to that cartoon. Specially since many of them can’t read anyway, but don’t remind me about that, cause I feel all-proud for writing my newsletter. And aye those revolutionary nights in Barceloca.

Like I said, the internet is broken today. Much like Nixon’s tape recorder, even dead, the man’s as fun as 2-pac. And it’s good to know Canada isn’t insane, and people who love each other can go get married there.

This podcast is a call to audio-arms! Seize the air… stop worrying about being —-safe. I take a bite out of apple, like a flea on a fat dog, with lots of my own half-assed mixes. Audio in this one includes stuff from Yeast2 and the Overnightscape, neither with permission, but with plenty of respect for those two great podcasts. I also found the time to insult the geriatric supreme court and the cowardly recording industry. Other excerpts include the great Howard Zinn, Robert McChesney, and the war criminal Donald Rumsfeld.

PT Gone Wild

As much as I consider myself an informed brother , with all the whistles and bells coming out of my beloved powerbook, I admit to you dear readers — I haven’t been reading Portuguese news. It’s a bit shameful because, besides being a citizen, I used to follow events very closely, just like I used to go back there like 3 times a year. But times have changed, money has been tight, and those dam newspapers took a while to get RSS, which is an automatic turn off for the nerd in me.

So when I finally flipped open my favorite portuguese newspaper this week, I was shocked to find the whole place has gone wild this summer. And it all begins with record breaking, burst-into-flames temperatures around 100 degrees (30+ Celcius), and the accompanying forest fires that have become tradition. Add to that, the father of the Portuguese communist party, who fought so hard and was imprisoned by the dictatorship, died this week.

But it isn’t all bad news. This year in general has had a few bright spots for my homeland. And Im not talking about that dam European Championship either. First, despite his extreme mediocrity, they selected the former prime minister as the president of the EU commission, which in retrospect could explain all the failures lately. Then, I just heard, another former prime minister (a more intellegent one) took over the job of High Commissioner for Refugees at the United Nations. May not seem like much to you, but that’s a very important body in a world that creates more refugees every year. Not to mention for a little country like Portugal.

What better time to announce my travel plans: as per tradition – July 25th to August 10th I shall be in Portugal. Anyone want to meet in Lisbon? I know where there’s good WIFI and tons of soundseeing to be done.
