Your 4th of July, Not Mine

It’s is the first time in many years that I am back in the US during the 4th of July celebrations.  While I enjoy a BBQ with friends and family today, I’ll also not forget the powerful words of Frederick Douglass back in 1852.  In this video entry I read an except from that speech.

    Does it still apply today?

      Frederick Douglass is always applicable.

or is this just a reminder?

I think you can take it how you want. Some wont feel anything when they hear or read the speech. Others might see it as a reminder. Others as still applicable to things happening today.

to celebrate than to have never seen a July 4th pass so unnoticed and cold and has no motivation to answer to this question is simple: financial crash and lost the sight of millions of American jobs

now I’m just talking about what is in plain sight and has not happened yet
