In 1984 a group of people started a hacker magazine in New york City. They would soon find people throughout the world who were interested in the same topics and sharing the same curiousity for how things work in this world. Eventually there came a radio program, Off the Hook, that still exists to this day, broadcast on 99.5 WBAI in New York City and heard throughout the world. I’ve had to good fortune over the last few years to have met and gotten to spend time with one person who’s been closely involved with all these developments, Emmanuel Goldstein.
As just like last year, he and I have been running around the 25C3 and Berlin for the past week, and one topic I wanted to tackle in this podcast is what these 25 years have been all about, how it all started, and how he sees the present/future for not only 2600 but the spirit of hackers and critical thinkers worldwide.
