bm229 Beirut in 2007

Just over 1 year ago Lebanon and the city of Beirut were under siege. After the July war the mainstream press seemed to lose interest in reporting about what was happening to people beyond the stories about political violence. In this podcast I bring a wonderful friend of mine to talk about her visits and experiences in Beirut in the past year and beyond. We talk about how people are living their lives, the challenges they face, and what might the future hold if things continue as they are.

Flattr this!

i know it wasn’t the subject of the podcast, but i wish you had followed up on what was the ‘head snapping’ moment of the show; the palestinian comment. to whom did the palestinians sell their land? i thought it was common knowledge that israel (thru settlements) is stealing it.

Richard… something I learned from conversations with Hanna Braun and reviewing some historical accounts, when the state of ISrael was being founded many Palestinian land owners did in fact sell land to those who would later be known as Israelis.

Not to take this too far of topic of course.
