For my 2 cents I simply wish he were more strong willed when it comes to the public option. Its too important to give up.

Obama has brought real change to the things he can control. Environmental laws food and drug laws and other laws to protect and assist people are beng enforced once again after eight years of deliberate failure to follow the law. He has a great cabinet that is enforcing the laws, not obstructing them. Unfortunately the mainstream media and some blogs on the left have been looking the other way.
Obama is not to blame for the undemocratic senate rules that let a minority of 41 veto anything progressive. The filibuster has been around long before he was born. He inherited a busted economy, an enormous deficit, a badly bungled war of aggression in Iraq. and a badly bungled war in Afghanistan from the Shrub.
The one thing I fault him for is not taking the lead on the only thing that can start to bring down the deficit and restoring prosperity. Namely, taxing the rich. This county was well run and prosperous when the highest tax brackets were in the seventies. They are half that now and things are going to hell.

If someone is foolish enough to take campaign promises literally, he or she deserves to be disapointed. The President is only one of three branches of the federal government and the other two have their own ideas, and will also fight for them. At best, a Presidential campaign promise is a general idea of the candidate's inclinations. I am surprised that, at this late date, someone who pays attention to politics has not figured this out.
