Tue, 04 Nov 2008 19:40:11 +0000 http://citizenreporter.org/?p=1534#comment-164370 The amazon gets all the press , not that it seems to help much, but Iīm sure you know that the major green lung of our planet is the forest belt that is in the northern hemisphere which encompasses Canada, much of Scandninavia and “Russia”.
Not to mean that we shouldnīt continue to save our southern rain forests (going fast) but if we donīt wake up people wonīt even be aware of the signifigance of the nothern forest belt which theorotically are not yet under poverty population pressure. Short sighted greed is however ever present.
The amazon et al. is important but not unique in its need for public awareness and protection.
